AI Songs

Yeah another post about AI.

I got a free trial of Youtube Music and was enjoying myself listening to some French songs that I don’t understand, when I thought “Hey, this song is good – who is the singer?”. I then went to the ‘artist’ page and there’s no description about the singer, only a name that is a bit hard to pronounce. That’s not unusual on YouTube and Youtube Music since there are a lot of people covering other artists’ songs, so I thought this was just another up and coming internet sensation. I also didn’t know what the song was about since the title is in French but the words seem to be familiar in the sense they’ve appeared a few times in other songs that I have been listening too. When I looked at the artist’s profile, I saw that she was good looking too. Hm, great looks, beautiful voice, and catchy song, what a great combina- wait a minute….

The picture has this hazy kind of look and after staring at it for 2 seconds I realised that it was an AI image. And when I looked at the channel, I can see the songs are all very similar, with images so similar that they look like postcards at a tourist shop. It’s confirmed then that the ‘singer’ is actually AI. I even asked Claude to confirm and it highly agrees.

Then I felt sick a bit, not because the songs were bad but it was the fact that I didn’t notice it at the start and even thought it was a talented ‘singer’. It is not the same like when you chat to ChatGPT or Gemini, where you know it is a software, but more like when you have read all the posts on my blog and discovered I am not a human.

But am I?

The weather was quite nice this past weeks. I would never have understood this before, but I drove around with the windows down last weekend as we went to the beach. Someone asked recently on Linkedin, why aren’t railways using GPS for their train positioning. Here’s my answer below: 1. GPS is limited by infrastructure and obstruction2. GPS has lower accuracy, say for example, a norming point/balise. Quick google and saw it says around 1 – 5 meter accuracy. Based on this two points, it’s not…

“What do politicians want?” a speaker asked an audience once. “To get more power,” came the answer. The crowd laughed. The speaker nodded, “Yes, you can argue that. They want to be voted, to stay in power.” This memory stayed with me because at that time, I thought it was a vile thing to want,…
