Year End Review

I’ve just completed my year end review, which I know is supposed to be done at the end of the year, and now it is January already. That aside, I completed mine. It was a modified version inspired by Ali Abdaal, and I realised that I have been doing it for 4 years already.

Couldn’t say I was really confident that the review would be going on after 4 years and also I wasn’t really sure whether it would help in shaping my life but looking back and reviewing it now, yes it did. For example I listed down that at the start of 2021 that one of my bucket list would be to get a masters degree. At that time I have left uni for almost 8 years and it seemed really daunting to go back to academic institutions but then the year after that, Alhamdulillah I managed to further my degree. I also have in my list of completing a doctorate, but let’s say that might need some more time. Another 8 years gap, maybe?

There’s also a section in my review where I list the achievements of the year and it feels quite easy to just leave it blank but when I try to fill them up with at least one item for every month of 2024, I start to remind myself what I have done and how quite far I have come. It makes you feel thankful.

I am looking forward to the end year review next year and to recap what will insyaAllah be a very great year. If you are doubting or feeling a bit lazy in doing journaling/self-review, here’s a recommendation to do one. Just a simple one would help.

Thank you for reading.

I’ve never run a marathon. In fact, I barely run. But I have friends who run, and I am pretty sure you would do. If not, you can probably see from various social media posts about strangers who run marathons. I notice that from pictures of runners, that no one ever look good while running…

We were watching a documentary of the missing Malaysian flight MH370 recently. It was quite interesting although a bit too dramatised for me. When we wanted to watch it, my wife and I said to our children that this happened years ago, back when the oldest of them was still in the womb. I also…
