Systems Thinking and Common Sense

Occasionally I read forums/facebook groups on transportation(s) in Malaysia. I’ve noticed that the questions most often would be along the line, “Why aren’t we having this ______ in Malaysia, it’s super advanced technology!”

I would sometime reply and mention the restrictions and constraints related to the technology proposed. Sometimes people would reply, still pushing and highlighting how good the technology they are proposing is. I would sometime go further and explain how the system thinking and the needs are not really there. But this sounds like a bit complicated, while in actuality, the reasons are quite simple. Most of the time, the thing is too expensive and not that useful. Yeah it might be cool, but it is not useful.

I thought to myself, this do not actually need the so called ‘system thinking’, but would just need common sense. Like they said though, common sense is not that common, anymore.

So here I am, thinking that maybe I need to write a system-thinking approach write-up but laid in a common sense way. Let’s see if I can do that.

Thank you for reading.
