Speech Intelligence

When I was in school, I believed that there can be intelligence without the ability to explain, but nowadays I think that although that can still be true, the ability to explain is a greater sign of intelligence. Because sometimes you think you’ve understood it in your mind but when you try to explain it out loud that you realise that is not the truth. Or rather not the full truth.

Speaking of truth, we humans can convey truth or lies through speech. In the book Three Body Problems by Cixin Liu, the alien civilisation (*spoiler alert*) can communicate through a form of light and instead of speech or concepts, they communicate their understanding. Interesting idea. I thought it is very efficient until the story points out that this is a weakness as the alien race acts like a hive as there is no requirement to understand, as all knowledge is imparted without translation. In a way they lack certain part of intelligence because they do not have speech.

Anyways I just want to say that speech is important and the ability and skill to use it shows intelligence, which becomes a sign of power on its own right.
