Hello 2024

A decade ago, this date in 2024 would be so unimaginable and futuristic, that it is hard to imagine how the world would be, compared to 2014. Yet, here we are. The world seems familiar, and a lot of things are like we imagined, but much too differs from our imagination. I still remember that in 2014, I was driving to work in a factory in the far edge of Selangor. And now, I still need to drive a car, there’s no flying drone carrying me to work or to buy groceries.

But the experiences have been not what I imagined, to put it mildly. I didn’t imagine covid or at a personal level, to have kids running around the house. I didn’t imagine that I would be leaving Malaysia and be working in the UK. But yet, here I am.

Here’s to more imaginable and unimaginable tales and adventure.

On the first of September 2025, Wan Muzni passed away at the age of 72 years old. She was attended by her family and friends. Others who heard the news were also grieved by it, I am sure, as I was. Madam Wan, as her students normally would address her, was my favourite teacher. She…

  • Winter is Coming

If you read Games of Thrones, or the Song of Ice and Fire to be exact, a common phrase is Winter is Coming, and the north is always depicted as somewhere cold and desolate. Even the undead/zombies are from the north. In some ways the north of England, which is Scotland, is cold (as a…
