Birth dates

Usually when you pick up medicines from the pharmacy, there’s a verification process where they ask you your address. In other places, sometimes this verification involves asking your birth date. I have always wondered how is this safe? The date is not that secret as most people would announce it either by bringing cakes to the office or having some other form of celebration. Maybe the verification includes also the scrutiny of the way the person answers his/her birth date? Was it answered in a thrilled manner if it’s coming soon, or flat tone if it has just passed? Or simply whether they were confident enough when answering it, as if they’ve known that date is special to them?

Surely though an imposter or hacker that manages to get the information, would answer it confidently enough? Alas, it might be just a false sense of security to ask a person’s birth date to confirm their identity. Either way it needs to be asked, hence needed to be answered.

This report from Amnesty UK highlights that genocide is done on Gaza and Palestine. It is disheartening to read but I applaud the writers. Against the perpetrator, may Allah met justice on you. My wife and I were watching a clip about a parliamentary session, where the politician gave a very vague statement, something like, “We do not condone bad behaviour.” My wife complained that the speaker didn’t answer the question. Of course he didn’t, he’s a politician. He gave a political statement that can be interpreted either…

In a post about a week ago, I mentioned that I was selling empty boxes online (at the suggestion of ChatGPT, I must add). It turned out that no one bought it. I remember years ago someone did buy an empty Apply product, but I guess nowadays it is not that important anymore to have…

  • FMEA and Politics

“What do politicians want?” a speaker asked an audience once. “To get more power,” came the answer. The crowd laughed. The speaker nodded, “Yes, you can argue that. They want to be voted, to stay in power.” This memory stayed with me because at that time, I thought it was a vile thing to want,…

Sometimes in life, you need to take a pause. I was working from home today and was about to finish with the day. Then my eldest child called out to me, saying the youngest was about to pee. She’s doing potty training so she is not wearing any diapers. She does know how to go…
