Age Is a Number

I celebrated my birthday recently. Been contemplating whether to write a post or not about it since if I write it here, I’m leaving a cyber trail and exposing myself to cyber security issues where malicious actors might steal my identity. Then I remember that you can buy a list online (not even on the dark web) containing Malaysian’s details containing phone number, address, identification card (IC/MyKad) for just a few ringgit 😅. It’s almost too easy to copy someone’s identity nowadays.

I got a phone call from my GP however yesterday concerning my health condition. He started with confirming my date of birth. I guess it’s the common practice but I find it funny that he can get my phone number but requires my birth date for confirmation. If he had called the wrong number, would the other person just say yeah, this is Faris, and started accepting consultation for someone’s else condition? Anyways it is a good practice.

Nothing alarming on my health, although there is a slight high reading taken from my blood test, indicating I have fatty liver. “Does anyone in your family suffer liver disease?” asked the doctor. I mumbled and said “I wouldn’t say they have but most of my family have the condition of fatty liver.”
The doctor then tries to put it nicely that although fatty liver is not like a sickness, it is still a kind of liver disease. I conceded and agreed. Yes doctor, you are right. You are the doctor, anyways.

Just like age IS a number. And it increases year by year.

Here’s to hoping that it increases alongside wisdom and patience.

Thank you for reading.

  • Define Your Happiness

Someone once asked me what do I, and everyone in the whole world wants. I answered then, happiness. Everyone wants to be happy. I still think the same now, but my definition of happiness is different. In fact I think everyone’s definition of happiness SHOULD be different. If you’re re-using someone else’s definition, most likely…

Recently a famous Malaysian who is living in the UK, showed how he manages to buy a trolley of groceries for only GBP 50. But is the groceries in the UK really that cheap? Actually it is not so cheap compared to Malaysia. GBP 50 is roughly RM 300, and you can get a similar…

  • Doing The Right Thing

We normally know what the right thing is. Even if a person is inclined toward malicious acts, he or she knows that what he is about to do is wrong. And if we want to improve ourselves, we normally know what we must do. If we want to live a healthy life, we need to…

  • I Must Be Getting Old (II)

I used to always try new software, all in the hope of ever increasing productivity and making life a bit easier. It normally doesn’t make life easier, but I enjoyed it. My wife didn’t, at least not as much as every time I migrated my drive or storage system/software, she would be dragged along and…
