Apparently it is not. The formal definition is the action of forbidding something, or banning. The &#8216;pro&#8217; in the word proscription made me think that it was something good or at least within the same intention, but apparently it is not. Forbidding something seems opposite to being pro-something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In comparison the word prescription means to authoratively recommend something. Wouldn&#8217;t the &#8216;pre&#8217; be more related to something that needs to be done beforehand, i.e. prerequisite? Pre-emptive? Prequel? Apparently not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These confusions aside, it is concerning that a proscription is done in this age and space. An age where prescription can be easily retrieved from the palm of our hands.
